Sovereign Late 15th Century Arming Sword
Inspired by Medieval French and German Swordsmithing | Oakeshott Type XVIII Blade
The Sovereign Arming Sword draws inspiration from the refined sword-making traditions of late 15th century France and Germany. Featuring an authentic Oakeshott Type XVIII blade, this elegant weapon combines historical accuracy with exceptional craftsmanship. The guard is adorned with a delicate floral French motif, while the pommel is an exact bronze casting of a 15th-century Katzbalger from the private collection of co-designer Eyal Azarad.
Hand-forged from resilient 5160 high carbon steel, the Sovereign’s blade undergoes differential heat treatment—achieving a Rockwell hardness of 53 at the core and 60 along the cutting edge. This process provides outstanding toughness, flexibility, and edge retention, making the sword both reliable and battle-ready.
Lightweight, agile, and durable, the Sovereign is a high-performance medieval arming sword that any soldier of the era would have proudly wielded. Ideal for collectors, reenactors, and enthusiasts seeking authentic historical weaponry.
