Gurthang – Sword of Túrin Turambar
Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion | Two-Handed Elven Longsword
“There is malice in this sword. The dark heart of the smith still dwells in it. It will not love the hand it serves, neither will it abide with you long.”
The Gurthang is a sword forged in legend, tragedy, and shadow. Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, Gurthang was originally crafted from meteoric iron by the Dark Elf Eöl and became infamous in the hands of the doomed hero Túrin Turambar. Unlike many weapons in Tolkien’s world, Gurthang was said to possess a will of its own—rejoicing in war, mourning the innocent, and leaving a legacy of both glory and sorrow.
Our version of Gurthang is a two-handed fantasy longsword, meticulously crafted to capture the dark majesty of its literary inspiration. The 32-inch double-fullered blade evokes both power and elegance, while the curved crossguard etched with Elven script, black hardwood grip, and elegant knotwork carvings reflect its Elven-forged heritage.
With a long handle and solid pommel that brings the point of balance close to the guard, this sword offers superb control and agility. Whether mounted on your wall or wielded in battle, Gurthang radiates the mythic presence of a weapon once used to slay the Father of Dragons.
Hold it, and you may feel—as Túrin did—that destiny lies in your grasp.
